Mathematics Degree Online

Can you really become a librarian with an online library of science degree?

Despite the growing popularity of online degrees, I am skeptical about whether or not they hold any wait in the "real world" so to speak. Does anyone have any personal accounts on this or have any more information? Thank you.

  1. Needs to be accredited by the ALA (American Library Assoc) else it is completely worthless in the US and Canada. With that said, there are a small handful of distance ed programs for MLS degrees. See the link below
  2. Weight is in the eye of the personnel director. You can certainly get hired with an all online degree, but I'd count on volunteering at a library for up to six months longer than you'd have to if you'd attended a university in person. You'd need to have some added experience to compete against other qualified graduates. If you happen to already have that experience - say you've worked as a library assistant for three years in high school - then whatever makes you happy.
